Pallia Transport company(PTC) and Gruppo Mercurio SPA Italy(GM SPA) signed a joint venture in March, 2009 to promote automotive logistics in India. GM SPA is one of Europe’s leading logistics company. PTC and GM SPA will own an equal 50:50 share in the joint venture.The JV will provide world class logistics services to the automotive industry in India by offering state-of-the –art logistics technology, solution design and implementation.
The company plans to increase the existing business of Pallia Transport in India by car transportation & logistics with automobile companies including Maruti, Mahindra, Tata, Hyundai, Honda & General Motors as well as explore other area in auto logistics such as Stockyard Management, Pre Delivery Inspection & car transportation in Rail wagons. With the new capabilities coming in place via the JV , the goal is to expand logistics operations to Europe for existing and new automotive customers. For the Mercurio Pallia, quality and optimised load capacity are the key drivers to differentiate themselves – The JV Company will also develop production units for the car carrier trailers as well as run an exhaustive development programme for their trailer drivers. This will also include training on the GPS & communication systems.
